About Ashley Martorano
Healing has been the central thread of my adult life.
My journey into natural medicine began at seventeen years old, when a severe longboarding accident entered me into the world of chronic pain. Around the same time, I had also been facing the possibility of scoliosis surgery after years of monitoring my spine. When I began researching the long-term risks and outcomes of the surgery, something within me knew that path was not right for me. So instead, I made the decision to figure out how to heal naturally — a choice that would completely reshape the direction of my life.
Over the following years, I immersed myself in the world of holistic healing. I explored countless modalities, including movement therapies, yoga, qigong, massage, energy healing, chiropractic, osteopathy, physical therapy, herbal medicine, nutrition, psychology, and the psycho-emotional dimensions of health. Some approaches helped, others did not, but each experience deepened my understanding of the body’s complexity and capacity for healing.
What began as a personal search for answers, grew into a calling to help others reconnect with the healing intelligence of nature.
Throughout these years, my healing journey has evolved from a focus on healing myself into a deeper passion to support healing in others. I saw so many loved ones struggling with chronic symptoms and not being provided with adequate solutions. I see so many people left confused or despairing, like I was.
A passion was born in me to find answers, and this eventually led me into formal clinical herbalism training. I began studying under KP Khalsa who teaches with an integrated approach to Western Herbalism, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, clinical nutrition, and Orthomolecular therapies. Through these traditions, I discovered systems that honored the whole human being, recognized the profound relationship between nature and human health, and provided actual, tangible solutions to body conditions of all types.
Nature itself has also been one of my greatest teachers. I grew up spending much of my life outdoors. Over time, I came to realize that immersion in nature brought me into a deep sense of peace, wonder, and connection. These experiences shaped my understanding that we are not separate from the natural world, but interwoven into it. The more I study the body and the medicinal qualities of plants, the more awe I feel for the intelligence and beauty woven throughout life itself.
Now I’m sharing what I’ve learned through my clinical practice.
Through exploring many modalities, I have learned that natural medicine is not about searching for a single answer, but about developing discernment and respect for the complexity of the human experience.
I have come to believe deeply in the body’s innate capacity for healing, and discovered plants to be some of our greatest allies in supporting that process. I have also come to appreciate the responsibility that comes with supporting others on their path to well-being, and the importance of grounding care in both lived experience and sound clinical reasoning.
Gaialore is part of my commitment to bringing Earth wisdom and ancestral practices forward into modern life. I feel very lucky to have found a passion for my life, and I intend to serve this field with the utmost dedication. These understandings now guide my clinical path and my commitment to serving others with integrity, care, humility, and respect for each person’s unique healing journey.
